The Engagement Shoot of Shannon and Jake at Whitsand Bay, Cornwall, UK
Have you ever thought about having an engagement shoot? I’m about to dive and give you a sneak peek into an engagement photoshoot I did recently with Shannon and Jake. I can’t wait to share more. But first – maybe you’re on the fence and thinking we got engaged ages ago the timing now doesn’t feel right now, I’m not confident in front of the camera or why do I need to have an engagement photoshoot?
Ok, I can’t lie, I just love Engagement shoots. So my opinion might be a bit biased, but we can talk about that later. So you might be thinking why do I think? Well here’s a few reasons (I’ll give you a few else I may never stop)! It’s the perfect way to celebrate you two as a couple. You gain confidence in front of the camera so it won’t be all new on your wedding day. And finally, you get to meet me. I can’t imagine anything worse than meeting your photographer on your wedding day and you completely despise them (maybe a bit of a strong word), we need to make sure we’re the perfect fit for each other!
Now let’s get back to the real reason why you’re all here – Shannon and Jakes’ photoshoot. A scorching hot British summers day in the middle of July, and I chose to layer up. Oh boy, I regretted that later on. I digress. The drive to Whitsand Bay along the winding roads was just breathtaking, long rolling landscapes of countryside onesie and on the other vast stretches of rugged cliffs along the coastline. I’d never been to Whitsand Bay, so really had no idea what to expect. Apart from a little browse of the internet, I was going in blind. But I had faith in Shannon and Jakes’ choice. I’m so glad I did and I can’t wait to go back there again soon!
I arrived at Whitsand Bay early to have a quick scout around. I was surrounded by picturesque backdrops and one large steep hill to climb back up to the car park to meet them. We had a brief chat and set off. Going down was much kinder and gave us a nice opportunity to have a quick chit-chat whilst admiring the view. They knew how to make an entrance too. The perfect outfits compliment each other perfectly.
Whilst there, Shannon and Jake mentioned how the tide is normally a lot further out and you could walk for miles. We still had plenty of beaches to play with the mind. Just a note to myself, check the tide times – haha! I use a little app called Unscripted. It allows me to plan and pick out a few natural poses which I think would work best. We can share and have a look back throughout the shoot for inspiration and guidance. I really love it as I feel it helps you guys and me (in case I forget something). I always love to start my photoshoots with a quick walking sequence where you just chat to each other and forget that I’m there. Pure bliss right. You’re just out on a lovely stroll together. Back to the shoot. We then jumped right in!!! We got all the images and more. From Walking hand in hand, jumping through water, and having tons of laughter. Could this moment get any better? Yes, it really could. The light was insane and we arrived perfectly, all ready for the crisp golden sun of golden hour and then the bright vibrant sunset which closely followed.
Shannon and Jake were amazing from the word go and gave it their all throughout the shoot and I absolutely loved it. But all good things must come to an end as we all take on the steep hill back to our cars and part ways into the night.
I will leave you with a few kind words from Shannon and Jake about the photos they received 🙂
“We are speechless, the photos are incredible, all I can say is thank you so so much! We are just in love with them all”
