Ellie and I met in London after we matched on a dating website (hinge). The first time we were meant to meet we actually had to postpone after I forgot my outfit for the evening! We eventually met two days later in a bar called ‘the folly’ in bank. We hit it off straight away! She laughed at my jokes and I thought she was beautiful. What a lucky guy I was. We carried on dating and soon after became boyfriend and girlfriend. Ellie made the tough decision a few months later to move back home to Wolverhampton to retrain as a teacher. We kept on dating and I travelled up on a Friday night (2 hours to wolves) and back on a Sunday for the next 6 months. It was tough but made it work and loved meeting all ellie’s family and friends. The pandemic hit and I didn’t see her for 9 weeks only talking to her on FaceTime watching Netflix together pausing it constantly to make sure we were on the exact same bit of the episode haha. We met up in Spice Ball country Park which was half way between wolves and watford. We distanced the whole time on separate picnic blankets and I blew her kisses from a distance. Weeks later I came to wolves and brought my tent to stay in the garden (to not break rules). This was the first time in over 3 months that I held Ellie’s hand (couldn’t wait any longer). As lockdown eased we decided that we wanted to get a house together as the distance was difficult and I knew I loved her. Each weekend we went to view houses and after 3 viewings we found our dream house in Penn, Wolverhampton and bought it in July 2020. I lived with ellie’s mum and dad for the next 9 months while we completely renovated the property. Ripping out chimney breasts, ceilings, wallpaper, stairs, carpets and completely made it our own. We moved in May 2021. I travelled to work in Coventry in the NHS specialising as a respiratory physiologist while ellie got her dream job at the local primary school as a year 5 teacher. We don’t have any pets but plan for 2-3 children in the future.

We are actually very different but that is what makes us work. Ellie is very certain with what she wants, can get stressed but is so utterly thoughtful and has a heart of gold. I’ve never met someone more caring. I am cool calm and collected and take life in the slow Lane. She is fire and I am water and together she gets me on track and I calm her down. We both meet in the middle and make the right decision. She wears the trousers but has a heart of gold.

I picked Cornwall because I thought it would be the most beautiful setting for a proposal. We both love the coast. I knew she wanted some where remote, romantic and a photographer for the moment. She is currently on the phone to her other friend (also called Elle) saying ‘the boy did well’ haha. We were soooo lucky with the weather, you never know what you’ll get in Cornwall.

The plans next are an engagement party at ours in the next few months with all our family and friends. Lots of socialising to meet everyone to show off the ring, photos and catch up with everyone.

The wedding will be in a church with Ellie’s dad (who is a vicar) walking her down the aisle and performing the service! Then after we want to have the most amazing venue (to be decided maybe classic, outdoors/tents or beach) but the most important thing will be the drinks flowing and a great band! We just want a massive party and everyone to remember it.
